Has anyone tried those Lush shampoo bars? I' ve tried two, Squeaky Green, and Seanik which is souposed to have sea salt as an ingredient which will help tighten locks. I've also tried there ReTread conditoner on my scalp which smells so yummy. Give me your thought on this shampoo or if you have any other good suggestion. I've also tried Knotty Boy and Dr Bronners they were okay but that is about it.

Sat, April 12, 2008 - 12:42 PMDid you like the Lush bars? I have checked them out on line but they seem expensive. Do you have any problems using a conditoner?

Re: Lush Shampoo Bars
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 7:15 PMI do like the Lush solid shampoos but I am very curious and like to try other new shampoos until I absolutely fall in love with one. Lush shampoo is very cleansing and the texture of the shampoo bar is rough so it really gives your scalp a good scrubbing expecially dry scalp. The cons about the shampoo are if you have any color in your hair it will wash it out. The shampoo leaves behind leaves, seaweed, little pieces of bark in your dreads. Whatever the shampoo happens to be made of. But I usually blow dry my hair and they the leaves or seaweed pieces fall out with no problem. The shampoo last for 80 shampoos according to the sales associate. I got through about 6 to 8 shampoos no lie. I don't know where that lady got 80 from. They are lil pricey around $10. I think I paid $23 for the conditoner which is maybe 8 oz. I just started using conditoner on my dreads because they seemed really dry and I noticed some breakage at the ends. I wouldn't suggest conditoner unless your dreads are really tight and locked. The conditoner did loosen up the ends of the ends of my dreads but I just backcomed and palm rolled and they were fine. If you do try a Lush shampoo try the Squeaky green. They also have one called Godiva that has conditoners in it but it smells really good I am going to buy that one next time. I hope this helps you the shampoo is worh a try. Right now I am using a shampoo made by Carol's Daughter the work really well to. I think they have a website if you want to check them out. Peace -

Sun, May 11, 2008 - 9:48 AMTree of Life, Nutiva, Now, &others make a fabulous RAW coconut oil (cold-pressed so the tempt never exceeds 104F). They are solid until you put some in your hands and then they melt.
The price is right, too. Great in hair, on skin, and even for cooking or smoothies.

Re: Lush Shampoo Bars
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 5:58 PMI use the Lush shampoo bar 'soak and float' it smells like campfire (cade), which I love. I break off a peice and dissolve it in a squirt bottle of warm water. That way the little leaves can't get stuck in my dreads. It works very well. I squirt it in and massage my scalp before I ever even get in the shower! The one I am using now has SLS, though I didn't realize when I ordered it. I think it is SLS-free in the latest catalog, though. It has been more beneficial to my scalp than any other shampoo I have tried.

Re: Lush Shampoo Bars
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 7:53 AMI love my Lush Shampoo Bar! I only discovered them back in December, but swear by it now. I've had dreads for 7 years so they are quite long (past my waist) and I tend to wash em 1x per week. I bought a Shampoo bar at the end of December and I still have a small bit of it left now, and that is considering I also do a "rinse and repeat" each time. I use the Soak n' Float bar, and though they say it smells of tarmac, i think it smells absolutely lovely, and has been the only thing that helps my itchy scalp.
I tried Knotty Boy myself, as well as Dreadhead before, and didn't like either, to be honest. Still have partial bottles of both under the sink in the bathroom. -

Re: Lush Shampoo Bars
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 8:18 AMI am crazy crazy about my LUSH products. Though I generally use Dr. Bronner's to wash my dreads. I am planning on buying a Seanik puck (which has a lovely Sakura smell, for you Lushies) because of the sea salt. One shampoo they have that I got a sample of is Big! It's is almost entirely sea salt. It comes in a jar and is rather expensive - if you have long dreads I wouldn't recommend it. But I used the sample on my short babies & they've really tightened up. I went back to Dr. B's because i think they're too tight for being as short as they are.
Godiva is wonderful - but it has cocoa butter in it and SLS. I have a puck (it's the Flying Fox smell, for those interested) and I use it as body soap instead.

Re: Lush Shampoo Bars
Today, 5:13 AMJust got my Lush order yesterday and haven't tried them yet but boy the soak and float, the one that smells like a campfire STINKS! I have had to store it outside in the cockpit because the odor takes over the whole entire boat. I just hope it works as good as everyone says it does on my dry flakey scalp. If so then it will definitely be worth putting up with the smell.
I also got the squeaky green to use after I get my scalp problems under control.
Lush sent me a sample of the aquamarina face cleanser and I love that!
