Has anyone else tried knottyboy's liquid shampoo?

I've used it a couple times now, and I love it (so far)!! It seems not to take as long for my hair to start looking 'propper' again after a shampoo (compared to dreadhead shampoo - which I hate to say anything bad about!).. I think it may be b/c of the oils in it (which, incidentally.. I L-O-V-E the smell of!!).

Anyway, has anyone used it more than twice, and what were ur longer-term results?

  • I have bought it a couple of times and am not that crazy about it for the simple reason that it doesn't lather. Did like the smell though.

Been using Lush shampoo bars and lovin' em!!!
    • i have a shampoo bar how do u go about using it just lather up in your hands then rub in??
      • just got the bar. had been usind dreadhead liquid. my local whole foods carries knottyboy stuff so i picked it up. i love the smell ! i just lather it up in my hands then apply the lather to my hair. one thing ive noticed is that my hair feels abit softer. not any less locked up tho... the dreadhead was starting to make my hair feel a little brittle, dry. but i wash about every 5 days.
for those that go longer in between washes how do you do it ?
my scalp seems to protest if i try for longer and i cant personally stand dirty hair smell. i get obsessed about it =) if there is a transition period for the scalp how long is it. my dreads are about 3 mos old now. but even with previous set i still washed just as often.
  • I've only ever used knottyboy liquid shampoo. It's pretty good, but I can't honestly say if its the best out there, and that is why I've just ordered the dreadhead liquid shampoo. I'm interested in trying everything that is out there over a period of time. I'm a curious creature.
I think that different things work for different people.
I've been using it since october 08. and my dreads always smell nice. It's lasted a long time, I've only bought the one bottle in the 8 month period, so awesome value for money, it just lasts forever, and I wash my dreads every week.
    • Sorry guys, I thought I had answered the Lush questions but checking this post, I realize I never did.

Yes, I order Lush on line. I see that there are Lush stores but I don't live anywhere near one. Plus if you use Knotty Boy, those products have to be ordered from Canada so the postage is about the same.

I have tried several beginning with the Soak and Float because my scalp got really out of whack. It smells HORRIBLE but really works and I now keep a bar on hand just in case. For my regular every week washing I use the Squeaky Green. I have tried the Cinammon, liked it, also have used the blue one, can't remember the name and liked it too. But the Squeaky Green is my favorite.

Like the fact that it lathers up, smells good and is all natural. Just have to make sure you dry the bar completely before sealing the tin back up so it doesn't get yucky.

we carry the knotty boy line in our studio in olympia and most of our clients prefer the bars for some reason, dont sell the liquid nearly as much....or the teas for that matter. I never used em myself...i like liquid dial or joy dishsoap personally but im a cheap sonofabitch...lol
  • Thanks for all the great replies to this post, everyone!

It has been almost 4 months since I asked what ppl's experience was with knottyboy's liquid shampoo, and now I'm back with my own review! :D

It seems a great shampoo to use in the winter (in Canada especially - I suppose the oils in the shampoo keep one's head/hair from drying out in the cold dry climate), but in sumertime (or in warmer climates), I noticed that my head started to smell not-so-fresh between washings.. I'm switching back to dreadhead's liquid shampoo for these 'hot times'!

~May our hair always smell FRESH (or like nothing @ all)!!~ :D
