so when I got my dreads put it the lady who put them in used this stuff called chi. it was realy oily and I didnt like the feel of it. plus it had petroleum as the first product in it.eww.
I was looking in the store for some different stuff to use becuase after having going with out and getting fuzzed to death by my dreads I had to try something.
I found fx molding clay and I was wondering if any one knows if it would be good to use till Im able to get the stuff from dreadheads.
its got water, sucrose, beeswax, isopropyl myristate, peg-40 hydogenated caster oil, a couple of different types of alcohol and some other scientific words that i know mean evil cemicals. but untill I get the other stuff it will have to do I hope.
oh yea and Hi to every one. ive been lurking in the background for a bit now thought i would ask a question =^.^=

Re: the green goo.
Wed, July 30, 2008 - 7:26 AMNO NO NO!
If you really must use wax (I'm really not an advocate of the stuff), Just use Beeswax with some olive or sunflower oil, to make it a more malleable consistency....

Re: the green goo.
Wed, July 30, 2008 - 8:07 AMI would say no. That stuff could get into your dreads and create an unholy mess in the future. Clays especially are very tacky and meant to hold spiky styles and stuff like that.
Honestly, if you're being fizzed to death, one good solution is aloe (the plant, not the stuff for sunburns). If you really need something stronger, you can get a super lightweight hold natural gel. (The natural part is important!) Use a teeeeeeeeeeeny tiny bit, and make sure you only put it on the outside of your dreads. Nice thing is it washes out completely in the shower, but you still don't want that stuff deep in your dreads.
Also, when you palm roll, try doing it on one direction instead of back and forth, it helps with the frizz. -

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 2:46 AMthanks for the replys. ill check out the aloe because i heard not only is it good for fuzzy that it help lock up the dreads. i went hunting last night and found this cool link that had alot of info on dreads and stuff community.livejournal.com/get_u...ad_up/ its got a huge memories section about dreads.
the main reson i was worried about the fuzzies of doom , is that im going to be seeing my family for the first time sence my dreads. and ill be attending my husbands friends wedding. family knows i have dreads the friend doesnt. and i just want them to look as good as they could even though its in the akward fuzzy loopy dread stage.
and i dont like wrapping up my hair cause my hubby says i look like a cancer patient. >.> -

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 7:23 AMYeah, Get Up Dread Up! Great community despite the occasional drama and attitude.
One of my friends calls my wraps my 'chemo look'. Kind of pisses me off a bit. I met my in laws with three month old dreads, so I feel your pain. I got some really thin hair wraps from Target. They were all about 6 inches thick, and wore them like a headband to cover the worst of the frizzies. It went over pretty well.
