can i allow some of this webbing that i have such a problem with work to my advantage? when two of these guys get together (assuming they're right next to each other), can i just allow them to grow out? i'm not worried about them being forked; if i don't like it, i can sew them together later. because i just grabbed chunks and started backcombing, some of my dreads have sort of thin boundaries at the scalp, and so, they're not matting up, while those with broader bases are doing great.
any better ideas on fattening my dreads up?

Sun, August 23, 2009 - 10:23 AMif your locks are already mature, or well on the way to maturing, your idea is probably the best method...let 'em do their thing naturally. -

Mon, August 24, 2009 - 11:03 AMthanks, hon. when we backcombed, i wasn't happy with how fat they were; now i want them fatter! partially, i'm thinking i would have fewer problems with frizzies as well as dreadsexxing (webbing), if they were a little thicker. do ya think that section that i crocheted for, uh.. 9 months is a lot thinner than it would've been if i'd allowed it to mat (matt?) up? -

Mon, August 24, 2009 - 11:17 AMyeah may have played a part in them being thinner...just remember with thicker locks, they take a lot longer to dry, and you gotta make sure they dry right through to keep mold away...although you'll find with thicker locks, they'll mat-up faster ;-)

Re: i want thicker locks!
Thu, October 15, 2009 - 11:04 PMi've combined mine before and it works pretty well, it just takes a little while of course for them to grow long.
what i did is twisted a couple dreads together for fun (as it looks the way a rope is twisted) and ended up liking what it looked like, so i kept it in. eventually as they grew out separately, i just tied them together and let them continue growing together, and now i have a thick one that's twisted on the end.
