Hi, ive got my dread for 2years and ive a serious dandruff problem there is really a lot and i dont know how to get rid of them. In fact they are mostly stick to my scalp. Ive been reading some other posts with similar problem and was wondering about the product named nizoral it seems to be very goodbut i would like some more opinions about it and also i'd like to know if its a limited time treatment or if i could use it as my regular shampoo.

also i heard about apple cider vinegar if i use the nizoral do i still have to use the vinegar ? and where can i find it is it the normal vinegar that i would find in my local supermarket ?

Thank you

What shampoo are you using at the moment? How do you wash?

I use Dreadhead shampoo, and don;t have much of a problem any more...I get some scalp dryness, but immediately prior to washing, I scrape my scalp with a barette comb, to loosen as much as possible, and shake most of it off before getting my locks wet. The shampooing and rinsing then removes the rest. I've never used Nizoral, so unfortunately, I can't help you there. With regards to vinegar, you can use either the regular white vinegar, or apple cider vinegar, that has more added benefits, especially for dandruff. You could also try making a liquid wash (baking soda and water), which is apparently really good and gets everything nice and clean.

Essentially, you probably have an imbalanced scalp at the moment. have you switched shampoos or routines recently? Is it something that's only recently started, or does it come and go?

OK firstly, I have real issues with adding unnecessary moisturisers to your locks, and olive oil would be one of those (as would any kinds of oil on a regular basis)...by doing this, you aren't allowing your scalp to naturally adjust itself, so the locks and the oily soap would be essentially 'fighting' one another, and this may be the cause of your dandruff. I found the same problem early-on with my first set of locks. I had people telling me I should spritz on essential oil and water mixes for a nice smell, but the dandruff I got was really bad. I stopped using the oils, and started washing with dreadhead regularly, and eventually my scalp rebalanced itself and the dandruff has been manageable since. With regards to the locktician's washes....I would definitely find out what is being used! certain products go great for some types of hair, but do not go well with others. You gotta be aware of what you put on those locks...and your own hair type - what will work and what will not. It's all about being in-tune with your hair.

I had the same thing happen a while back after changing shampoos. I went on line the www.lush.com and bought their soak and float shampoo bar. It smells to high heaven but definitely took care of my problem. In fact I keep a bar on hand "just in case" now.
