Had some problems with a lock or two some months back. Needed to thread some loose hairs into the lock and used some dread wax to hold it in place.
It now seems that I used too much and I'm starting to get mold in a part of one of the dreads. It's not too bad and doesn't smell so much, but I'd like to kill it stone dead if I can, without ruining the dread. It's not in the root but quite far down the dread.
These are the forst problems I've had like this in 7 years, and my dreads are almost 3 feet long.
Can anyone recommend anything that will work?

Sun, March 23, 2008 - 11:25 AMMaybe try washing the ones that are getting mold in really hot water (as hot as you can make it with out burning yourself), then dry them fairly quickly using a hair dryer. I used "Dr Bonner's" soap, and washed, rinsed and repeated)
I work at a public pool, so I have kind of had similar problems. I have had mine sour once(start to get mold), and that is what I did. It worked for me. I hope this helps.

Wed, March 26, 2008 - 6:01 PMBoil some water then dip the sour end of your dread in it a few times (or let it soak for a minute or two) to melt out the wax...then never use it again! Next I would wash your hair really well with Dr. Bonner's mint or tea tree oil soap. Use a blow dryer to make sure they're good and dry.
Good luck!
One love,
