I have flagged white.
I wont use more wax in my hair. I will miss the smell of hemp oil but I prefer having soft non-sticky dreads.
an hour ago I socked them in a mix of water, salt and vinegar. Left it in for about 20-30 min and took a looooong hot shower.
When I rinsed out the shampoo, the water was dark brown >.<
ew...
my hair is still wet, but it's sticky! like all the wax appeared from the inside of the dreads to the surface. It stinks vinegar and lots of loose hair are partying around. all in all... it was a very bad experience, but I am sure it helps!
you guys think I need to do it again? or will the rest disappear after X numbers of washing?

Re: stupid wax...
Wed, March 25, 2009 - 6:09 AMYahh wax is horrible to get out, takes time and effort...and yeah, most people don't realise the unfortunate side-effect, that it picks up SO much dirt and other crap! It takes a while to remove wax, but can be done! Keep on with the HOT HOT showers...you can include vinegar in the process, which is very good for removing wax, but so your hair doesn't stink of vinegar, try a vinegar rinse first. get yourself a bottle or container, add some vinegar and some water, so it's diluted...jump in the shower and wet your hair, pour the vinegar rinse over your dreads, trying to get all of them covered, let it stay in for a while while you do your other shower activities...rinse it out, then shampoo with your dread shampoo (you can even add a couple drops - no more than a couple! - of essential oil, like tea tree or peppermint (which are GOOD for your dreads in very small doses) to mask the smell...I would only use the oil whilst removing the wax though...otherwise it gets your dreads all greasy and hinders dreading :))
Good luck! -

Re: stupid wax...
Wed, March 25, 2009 - 3:28 PMthanks for tips! Gonna try out your vinegar rinse and leave it in for just a few minutes instead of half an hour. I manage to cover the vinegar smell with some coconut essence, but I got tea-tree and peppermint as well somewhere. I try that next time I wash them. Still got wax in there... and now I clearly see what spots that's not dreaded. Seems like I got some work in front of me. I just want to go and wash them again right away, but I will be good girl and wait patiently for at least 3 days! -

Thu, March 26, 2009 - 1:19 PMGood luck! Just remember not to use too much oils, as they can make your hair greasy, and therefore, less likely to dread-up!

Re: stupid wax...
Thu, March 26, 2009 - 6:35 PMhad a similar problem myself. Still recovering from it. but it's mostly gone at this point. It's been about a week or so i think since I used some vinegar on them. I had 2 washes with it. I hope you feel better about the dreads soon. remember- just say "no" to wax.
